Unpopular opinion: There is still a lot of upside for $XRP

The general consensus in the crypto space is that $XRP is a “premined scam”, “corporate Pump and Dump”, “centralized garbage”, you name it. In this article, I’ll try to explain why I think all of those statements are false and why I believe $XRP is a very good investment.

One of the most important thing in any startup/company is the people that work there. Take a look at some of Ripple’s employees.

Are these people too gullible you might say? I don’t think so. Some critics bring up the Theranos example. The difference that those critics forget is that, Theranos’ whole business was a secret, their CEO did not want anyone asking questions about the product, which is not the case with Ripple and the XRPL. Their latest addition to their board of directors is the former Treasurer of the United States Rosie Rios.

Lawsuit:

Some might think that the lawsuit is a burden, but I think it’s the opposite. We are seeing members of governments around the world wanting to clamp down on the Crypto space, they want to regulate it. If Ripple prevails during this lawsuit, which I think they will, XRP will be the only regulated token. You’d be naive to think that the SEC will stop at Ripple. Christine Lagarde, the European Central Bank President, arguably the most powerful woman on earth, said in an interview (in French) that she believes Bitcoin is not a currency, highly volatile and that if a private entity (in the Crypto space) wishes to conduct business, that same private entity needs to follow the same regulatory framework as any other business entity. What do you think will happen once Ripple gets that regulatory framework from the SEC?

Centralized “garbage”:

As for this endless FUD that XRP is centralized and the nodes are all controlled or approved by Ripple, this is totally false. You can check the list of validators on the network here. Anyone, including you & me can run a node on the XRPL.

We’ve seen lately every major government is talking about building their own CBDC (Central Bank Digital Currency). This project would most likely put 95% of cryptos out of business as they won’t be needed anymore. I believe that XRP can be used to bridge those CBDCs.

Central Banks have been vocal that they do not want to build CBDCs on a public ledger, which makes a lot of sense when you think about it. So any crypto project that runs a public ledger and claims that they will win the CBDC race is just kidding themselves. Last March, Ripple announced that they were piloting a private version of the XRPL specifically for CBDCs.

Think of it as Internet vs Intranet. The former enables anyone to share information and communicate with each other, while the latter is a restricted network and needs to authenticate the login. I believe Central Banks will run their own CBDCs as “intranet” meaning it will be private and no one will know what is happening (volume, amount being moved, etc) and when they will need to move out of their currency, they will use XRP as a bridge. There is only one real XRP by the way. Even if the banks “create” their own token, they would need something very critical; liquidity. A concept that a lot of people underestimate. The XRPL have been running and XRP trading for approximately 8 years without any bug.

According to legal expert Jeremy Hogan, in this video he said that Ripple settling with the SEC could lead to XRP supply shock, he said,

This would in effect limit or slow the flow of XRP into the marketplace. Sales to section D or corporate purchasers cannot then be put into a public exchange for six months, maybe up to a year. A settlement containing this term would essentially bottleneck the flow of XRP into the market for years to come.

That is one of the reasons why I think people who wait until the lawsuit is finished/settled will end up being priced out.

Again, let me reiterate, I don’t believe XRP will be the one and only crypto and everyone will bow down to Ripple. I believe any token with utility will still be around, but I really do believe that XRP is a sleeper and that, if successful, will change a lot of lives. Thanks for reading!
